Part 1: I Want
Her
From the moment I laid eyes on
Jamica Grey, I knew I had seen an angel. At the time, my life was spread thin
and full of turmoil in the relationship department but she was a breath of
fresh air for my soul. If there was one woman that I felt could make sense out
of the madness I called my life, it was she.
I was struggling to find a fit in my
life for my son's mother, Ronelle Milton (Roni). She was stationed in Maryland at
Fort Meade and our not being together physically had caused our relationship
major problems. We tried to work it out time and again for the sake of our son
but it didn't seem like it was meant to be.
I was also being tormented by an ex,
Olivia Simms (Liv), who not only worked with me but, to make matters worse, was,
at one time, my supervisor. At one point, she had controlled me with an INTENSE
sensuality and sex that was nothing short of mind blowing. The truth to the
matter was, with her, I lost all sense of self. Whatever she wanted to do, we
did. Where ever she wanted to go, we went. Whatever she liked, we liked. I was
a marionette and never realized it until my 'strings were cut'.
For a little over three months I had
been stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ. I was everything Liv wanted me to be; that
is, until she was deployed with her unit to California for training. It was
then that I realized just how much control she had over me and I vowed I'd
never let it happen again.
To add to the chaos that ensued
between us when she returned, a bombshell was dropped that put our relationship
in permanent hiatus. I felt it would be best if we had nothing else to do with
each other outside of work. Liv had much different ideas.
In the interim, I became involved in
a 'strange relationship' with another co-worker, Penny Davis, that really left
me dazed, confused, plus mentally and sexually exhausted. I won't expound on it
too much but it was a trip.
And slowly, during the next few
months, I had become ensconced in a "CrazySexyCoolFriendWithBenefits" type
relationship with Briana Lopez (Bri). On many levels it would become deeper
than any relationship I've EVER had. She showed me how true but 'tangled and
twisted' love/lust could sometimes be.
Though I had a lot going on in my
life, I was young and felt I could conquer the world if I wanted to. Ya'll are
lucky I didn't want to!
Back to Briana. She was at the
heart of my relationship with Jamica and was instrumental in getting us
together. At the time we met, Private Jamica Grey was in AIT (Advanced
Individual Training) to become a Chaplain's Assistant. I worked in the Dining
Facility (DFac) where the trainees ate. As far as military law goes, if you're
permanent party (completed all the requirements of your training and have moved
on to an assignment), having an "other than professional" relationship with a
trainee is strictly forbidden (fraternization) and carried stiff punishments,
in theory. In reality, fraternization went on unchecked and unpunished ALL the
time.
Relationshipwise, I was a mess but
Pvt. Grey made me forget about all of that the moment I looked into her hazel
eyes. Visions of a young Stacey Dash swirled in my mind plus she exuded an air
of sexiness that instantly piqued my interest.
Earlier in the week, she had come in
to eat with her detail squad and, though we were strictly forbidden personal
contact with trainees, I had to get her attention. When she was at the salad
bar I stepped in next to her as if I were replenishing an item. My intention
was to say something smart or witty that would give her a good first impression
of me but when I got close to her, all I could manage was, "Hi... uhh... excuse
me..."
"Oh... I'm sorry! I didn't see
you..." She looked at me and smiled.
Our eyes locked for a moment
and I felt my heart skip a beat or two. "No... no problem..." I replied. I took
a quick glance at her name before turning and heading back into the kitchen, leaving
the item unreplenished.
This time she was back as one of the
duty personnel for Headcount (Kept accountability of the number of soldiers who
ate during a meal). Bri and I were on break eating lunch when she came in.
Somebody mentioned that the headcount was waiting and when Bri got up, I
noticed Pvt. Grey.
"Oh shit..." I said under my breath.
Bri pointed her to the office and
said, "Go in and have a seat, I'll be there in a minute." Then she turned to
me, "What was THAT about?"
"That's the girl I was telling you
about the other day! The 'Salad Bar' chick!" I remarked to Briana excitedly. I
had mentioned Pvt. Grey to Briana after the "Salad Bar episode."
"I see what you mean... she IS
pretty," Bri replied. "I'm not into women but I think even I might wanna tap
that!" She punctuated her statement with a laugh.
In the short time we'd been hanging
out, she never failed to amaze me. Bri was one of the prettiest women you would
ever see but she was down to earth and never beyond giving another woman her
"props." I don't think she had a jealous bone in her body.
"You think you're gonna get a chance
to holla at her?" she asked.
"I don't know... you know the
deal. The Drill Instructors watch the trainees like hawks! And this is the first
time I've seen her when there wasn't a Drill around."
"I'll tell you what, come in the
office and talk to her right quick and I'll see where her head is... if you
want me to..."
"Hell yeah!" I said as I followed
her toward the office.
With Bri as my 'Wingman', things
went smooth; she broke the ice and then I made a little small talk while she
got the paperwork together. She was 19, from SC and her name was Jamica Grey.
Once Bri started briefing her on how to handle the paperwork, I left the
office, shooting her (Bri) a quick smile before I closed the door.
By the time they finished in
the office, her classmates were lining up and the DI's had rolled in to keep
the wolves (permanent party soldiers) off of the chickens (trainees). It was
really only for show because on the real tip, damn near every guy in the DFac
(and a couple of the females) had been with a trainee at one time or another. I
personally knew that a couple of the DI's had gotten their "piece of the pie." The
trick was to keep it on the low; the only true way to get caught was to be a
little too open with your business.
When I first got to Fort Monmouth
and found out we were feeding Chaplain's Assistants (also known as the God
Squad), I figured they'd all be Bible toting, verse quoting, overly religious
knuckleheads. I didn't have anything against them if that WAS their thing, but
quickly found out otherwise.
The majority were females, had just
done twelve plus weeks of basic training and had that pent up sexual
frustration and tension that was begging for release. Besides their
instructors, cooks were the ONLY permanent party soldiers they came in contact
with on a regular basis, and believe me, we MADE contact!
