"So how did your session go today?" Amanda asked, as her friend Carrie
got into the car.
"It wasn't that bad actually," Carrie said, as she buckled herself into
the passenger seat of her best friend's car. "And, thanks Amanda for always
being there for me and taking me to my appointments. I really do appreciate
it."
"No problem. " Amanda replied with a warm smile. "You know I'd do
anything for you."
Amanda glanced over at her friend inquisitively, as she pulled out of
the parking lot of the medical office building. Wow, she thought, while
scanning Carrie's facial expression for a sign of how her counseling session
went. Carrie actually seemed a little upbeat, which is very different than how
her friend has appeared to be for quite some time.
"Hey, that's great!" Amanda said enthusiastically. "It sounds like
you're finding some clarity and direction."
"Yeah," Carrie agreed. "I am finding clarity, because I'm finally able
to be honest with myself about a lot of things."
"Oh really?" Amanda asked curiously. "Anything you'd like to share?"
"Maybe," Carrie smiled secretly. "But not right now."
"Ok sweetie. You know I'm here for you whenever you're ready," Amanda
said.
She knew that Carrie would open up to her when she was ready. There was
no reason to rush her. As long as they have been friends the two women have
shared absolutely everything with each other, the good, the bad, and the crazy.
Amanda had no doubt that Carrie would eventually tell her what was going on,
and she would be there for her no matter what it was.
