Chapter
1
Sylvia Sutten was both
nervous and excited as she waited outside the gates of the Spring Meadow
Correctional facility - maximum security prison - in Portland, ME. It felt as
though butterflies were fluttering within her stomach. Any minute now the steel
gates to the prison would part and the love of her life, Trevor Lincoln, would
come strolling out - a free man after serving five of his ten year prison
sentence. Taking a compact out of her purse she opened it and peered at herself
in the mirror to ensure her make-up and long blonde hair looked perfect. They
did. Closing the compact she thrust it back into her purse and then nervously
flattened down the skirt of her black sundress that the wind was insisting on
blowing up.
The sound of the gates
unlocking had her jerking her blue eyes back up and to the door. It pushed open
and there he was - her Trevor. Her
breath caught in her throat, from just looking at him and she was sure her
heart missed a beat. He looked more magnificent than she'd ever seen him;
wearing plain blue jeans and a black t-shirt that stretched across his broad
muscular chest. Since there wasn't much to occupy the inmates' time while
incarcerated Trevor chose to focus on staying fit and it showed.
He had the body of a Greek God.
His grey eyes immediately
caught hers and a wide smile broke out on his face as he started to jog across
the lot towards her, closing the distance between them in seconds. Before she
could react or even say so much as 'hi' Trevor's arms circled around her waist
and she found herself being lifted into the air and hugged so tight to him that
she was left breathless.
Wrapping her arms around
his neck, she held tight to him, burying her face against his neck and
savouring the smell of soap and aftershave. So masculine, so
Trevor. She'd been dreaming of this moment for so long that for it to
finally be here, with her in his arms and them about to start a 'normal' life
together, it brought tears to her eyes despite her attempt to hold them back.
"God, how I've longed
for this moment, Sylvia," Trevor said as he kissed her temple and stroked
her long locks while keeping her body tight to his.
"I know. Me too." A sob escaped her and Trevor immediately set
her down on her feet pulling back so he could look her in the eye, while
keeping his arms protectively around her waist.
"What's the matter, baby?"
He frowned, worry evident in his eyes. "This is supposed to be a happy
time, right?" He reached up and swiped a tear that had escaped her eye and
was running down her cheek.
Keeping her eyes locked to
his grey ones, she traced the line of his jaw with her fingertip and then
pressing herself up against him again she ghosted her lips across his. "I am happy," she whispered.
Slipping his hand into her
hair to rest at the back of her head, Trevor's lips claimed hers roughly,
passionately. She sighed against his lips, hers parting slightly and he took it
as an invitation to slip his tongue past her lips to explore her mouth. Their
tongues duelled as her desire rose up within her. Gone was the nervousness and
anxiety of seeing him free at last, all that remained was the deep and primal
need to be with him and to feel his rock hard naked body pressed against hers.
