Stepping off Alpha's wounded body; I left
his broken body to recover from the scars of battle. I had my fair share of
injuries too, but fully unleashing the wolf in me healed those injuries in no
time.
The pack watched curiously, excited that a
change in the hierarchy was about to take place.
"Does anyone else care to challenge
me?!" my thunderous, commanding voice filled the room and (hopefully)
struck fear and awe into their hearts. No one dared to step forward.
"Good," I said. Gabriel had
entrusted the pack to me and by this, I had now proved my worth to take up the
position of the alpha wolf.
Alpha got up, unsure of how else to
proceed.
"From now on, I am pack leader. I am
Alpha. Does anyone care to oppose this motion?"
The pack stayed silent. Even Alpha did.
"Right then, initiate me as your new
alpha!" I commanded again, grabbing a whip from a nearby table. It was a
dungeon after all.
The wolves scattered in a flurry, even
those who weren't yet humans quickly transformed back, following my lead.
"Where is Julian?" I turned to
Alpha, unsure of what his real name was.
"He's safe," Alpha replied,
"and please, call me Hugh."
"Hugh," I repeated, drawing it
out on my tongue. It better suited a wolf like him than the name of 'Alpha'.
I watched as the pack quickly gathered in
the centre of the dingy dungeon preparing for the
initiation ritual.
"How does this work, Hugh?" I
asked my second-in-command. Now that I had taken the position of pack leader,
Hugh was obviously reallocated back into second-in-command.
"The lowest wolves will be dominated
by their immediate higher rank wolves who will then be dominated by those
higher ranked than them. This continues until I dominate the pack and then it's
your turn to uh, dominate me, Alpha."
I smiled. This initiation started to sound
real good to me.
