EXTRACT FOR Humped By Hillbillies (Anna Mann)
Every village has one.
The loner, a creepy guy that, although never actually convicted of any crime is always under suspicion. A dirty man, with long greasy hair, and clothes that last saw soap when washed in the thrift shop just before he picked them up for pennies.
The small town of Glenview didn't have just one, it had two. The locals called them the Jones bros, even though they weren't related in any way. One actually was a Jones, and for many years he had lived alone in a log cabin after his parents had passed. He generally kept himself to himself and lived off the dividends paid by his late father's investments. The cabin was high up in the forest, a patch of pine woodlands that sprawled around the foot of the mountains. At one point it had been a spacious and comfortable family home, but Dan Jones had let it fall into disrepair, he lived in just two rooms and as far as he was concerned Mother Nature could take the rest. His contact with the townsfolk was limited to periodic visits to the general store, and of course the bank, because even a recluse needed a few coins in his pocket. Those visits were an uncomfortable time for all, because Dan had a way of looking at women as though he could see right through their clothes. Everyone agreed that something should be done about him, but as the local police had explained, looking wasn't a crime. And as far as they were concerned he may have been a little strange, but he'd never actually done anything to cause them to take a closer look at him. He was simply a harmless oddball who lived in the woods, and people should forgive him for his strange behaviour.
And then a drifter came to town, almost Dan's double. The older sibling, the townsfolk surmised. There had been rumours of the Jones' having another son, no one knew if there was any truth in the whispers, but with the vagrant looking so similar to Dan people made their minds up and decided that the rumours had to be true. A chance meeting in the forest had brought the two scruffy men together, and they had both instantly felt a bond... and so the Jones Bros were born, both men displaying the same disturbing traits whenever they came into town and spotted a member of the opposite sex!
