EXTRACT FOR Deephold Prison (Faye Valentine)
One more stop, the actual Goddess thought as she projected herself to a home on the planet Ankathea millions of lightyears from earth. Honoring the customs of the people she created so that one of her wives could have a real body and family, she stood on the porch and lightly knocked on the door. A moment later it swung open and she was greeted by a beautiful black-scaled ankathean woman with large wings folded over her shoulders like a cloak and long tail swaying behind her.
"Goddess! What brings you... h-how may I serve you?"
"Be at ease. May I come in?"
"Of course, Goddess! As the Mother Creator you don't need permission to go anywhere on this world of yours."
"I appreciate that, but I prefer to adhere to the laws and customs of the lands and people I visit even if I created them."
"P-Please come in. May I offer you a drink or something to eat?"
"No thank you. Is your husband home?"
"Yes Goddess. Would you like me to go get him for you?"
"Please do."
"Right away, Goddess." Running off, Nanthia slid the glass door leading out onto the back deck open so hard she feared she cracked it, but that paled in importance to the deity she left waiting in the living room. "B-Byxodan, come, the Goddess is here and she wants to see you!"
"The Goddess? Why does she want to see me?" the black-scaled ankathean man asked even as he got up from his chair.
"I don't know, but best we don't keep her waiting." Returning to the living room moments later with husband in tow, Nanthia gave the Goddess a nervous smile.
"You wished to see me, Goddess?"
"I wished to see both of you. As you know, your son's sentence is up today and he's already been released, but what you're not aware of is that he and his human partner Velaria will be marrying me and my three wives this evening. I am here to personally invite you and to also offer you a deal which you are free to refuse without any repercussions. If the two of you agree to spend ten years in Deephold just as your soon to be in-laws have, I'll offer you the same rewards as I've bestowed upon them. And before you ask, no, I will not tell you what they are and they will be unable to mention them."
"You want us to go to prison, Goddess?" Nanthia asked. "May I ask why? Did we do something that displeased you?"
"This isn't punishment for some perceived crime against me so please be at ease. And unless you suddenly turn into the worst criminals in the universe this is strictly voluntary, but should you agree you'll serve every single day of your sentence before release is an option so only do it if you're willing and able to serve the full ten years."
"I never understood why anyone would volunteer to go to prison, Goddess," Byxodan said. "Why would anyone want their lives ruined with a criminal record when they've done absolutely nothing wrong?"
