Kitty Bang Bang

Jeff dove underwater and skimmed between two submerged, barnacle-encrusted boulders. He pursued a large tropical fish. He didn't know what type of fish it was, but it was very pretty in its shades of white, red, yellow and blue. The fish was way too fast for him and, with a powerful flick of its tail fin, shot out to sea like a bullet. Jeff made for the surface some ten feet above and immediately blew the water from his snorkel as he broke into the sunlight. He spat out the mouthpiece and sucked in several quick and deep breaths. He coughed up some seawater that had lodged in his throat and did a pirouette in the water, taking in the scenery.
He was diving around a rocky headland in water that was about twenty feet deep. The day was fine and clear, the morning sun already quite high in the sky and burning down on the resort that was nestled amid palms just off the beach. The water shimmered as a light breeze rippled across it. Swimmers were everywhere, as well as several kayaks, catamarans and a few speedboats heading towards the outer reef. The pristine beach was dotted with a myriad of colors as tourists crowded the sand.
Jamming the mouthpiece between his lips once more, Jeff lowered his face into the water and kicked lazily around the headland, propelling himself with only his fins. A school of fish darted left and right below him. Jeff reached down with a hand and they scattered in all directions before regrouping further away from him.
Taking a deep breath he kicked down towards the bottom, equalizing the building pressure in his ears by pinching his nose and trying to exhale through his nostrils. His ears popped and the pain vanished instantly. He weaved through some rocks and under an overhang, making his way around to the beach on the other side of the headland. When his lungs protested and screamed for air, he quickly rose to the surface and took a deep breath.
As he pushed his mask up onto his forehead and squinted against the glare, he saw a thin red protrusion snaking left and right. Behind the snorkel two cheeks of a cute female bum bobbed up and down in the water, the succulent flesh clad in a white bikini bottom.
Jeff saw no one with the lone swimmer. Curious, he replaced his face mask, sucked the snorkel between his lips and kicked hard in the direction of the woman, catching up to her in thirty seconds. When he was within ten feet of her he slowed down and casually followed her into shore. She looked young and slim from behind and she moved with all the grace of someone very comfortable in water.
She stopped and hovered above some rocks a few metres from shore. Jeff casually kicked over to her, pretending to study the sea bed. When she saw him she broke the surface. Jeff did likewise and simultaneously they spat out their snorkels and raised their masks so they could make unimpeded eye contact.
The girl looked early twenties, was a brunette and she had a very pretty face. She smiled a genuine and friendly smile.
"Hi," she said brightly. "Were you following me?"
Jeff was momentarily caught off guard by her direct question.
"No...not really."
She raised an eyebrow. "Not really?" The smile never left her face.
"I'm Jeff," said Jeff, wanting to divert the topic of conversation as quickly as possible.
The young woman extended a hand. "My name's Katrina." Jeff took her hand in his and shook it once. The skin of her palm was soft and velvety. "Some people like to call me 'Kitten' or 'Kitty'. I actually prefer 'Kitty'."
Now Jeff grinned. "Kitty it is then." Behind her was a deserted expanse of beach, palm fronds waving lazily over the sand. "Are you here on holiday?"
Kitty nodded. "For ten days. I'm sharing a room with my sister and brother-in-law. We only got here last night. Are you on holiday too?"
Jeff shook his head. "I live here. I work part-time at the resort in PR."
"And the rest of the time you're enjoying all the spoils paradise has to offer." She shot him another smile, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
He replied, "Something like that."
She glanced at her diver's watch. "Listen, Jeff, I better head back. We're going on an excursion up in the mountains today. If you're not working later, why don't you join us for a drink at the pool bar around six this evening."
"Sure. I'm free. Look forward to it."
Kitty put her mask back on. "I better go. See you tonight."
"Enjoy the mountains," he said, but her head was already submerged in the water.
