"I get
the feeling Sid didn't tell you everything about the deal we made through that
online auction." He sounded a bit down, which was weird as I had hoped that he
was as glad to see me as I was to see him.
"Well,
he said you would pay him a finder's fee of five grand and the rest belonged to
me."
Zane
shook his head. I liked the way his long scruffy hair bounced with the movement
but I didn't like the way he was frowning.
"Yeah,
I figured he'd screw you over. Didn't you read what you signed?"
I
shrugged my shoulders. I didn't want to tell him that I'd broken my glasses
several weeks ago and I didn't have any money to buy a new pair. Sofia and Sid
had turned my request for another pair down flat, telling me to go out and get
myself a job. Well, I had one now. A good one by what Sid had told me. I'd be
helping to tend the horses. Feeding them, grooming them and taking them out for
daily rides.
I
wondered exactly how dishonest Sid had been with me about what was in that
contract.
"Hey!
Anyone here!" A man called out from the area in the house where we had just
come from.
I
inhaled sharply at the familiar voice. Could it be?
"In
here!" Zane shouted back.
I held
my breath as heavy footsteps stomped into the kitchen.
It was
Zac! The other cowboy Sid had fired from Rocking Horse! He was almost as tall
as Zane. His hair was shorter and lighter, combed back off his face. He wore
dusty cowboy boots, tight black jeans and a dusty looking red and black
checkered shirt. His face was well-weathered and tanned.
When he
saw me, he shook his head and made a funny animalistic moan that made my
nipples tingle and my pussy quiver with awareness. His dark eyes widened and he
smiled. I wanted to jump into his arms and tell Zac how grateful I was that
they had rescued me from Sid and Sofia but there was something in Zac's smile
that warned me he was more than just
happy to see me.
"Oh
great, you're here, baby doll. I need you bad. Some hot and heavy afternoon
love is all I've been thinking about since we bought you at that auction. I
hope you brought that dress that makes you look so vulnerable and sexy. Put it on,
will you?"
My
tummy hollowed out in a not so good way.
I
looked to Zane. He averted my gaze. Bought
me? Vulnerable and sexy?
Oh no.
What exactly had I not read in this so-called agreement?
