The time vortex opened and the ship
came through. It landed gently on the football field. Mary checked her hair and
makeup and then walked down the ramp. At the bottom, she turned, reached into
the black handbag, took out the remote, and pushed a button. The ship disappeared.
She walked quickly across the field because
there was a mission to complete and there wasn't much time. Rock Around the
Clock was playing when she entered the gymnasium. At the front, a young man was
spinning records and a large banner with Eagles Home Coming Dance 1955 hung
behind him. Metal chairs circled the gym. On one side were the boys, on the
other were the girls waiting for a boy to ask them to dance. The couples that
were going steady were already dancing. As Mary made her way over to side with
the girls, many of the couples slowed their dancing to stare. She wanted to
attack attention from the men, and it was working.
She sat next to several other girls. They
looked her over and then one of them said, "Where did you get that outfit," and
they all laughed. Mary was wearing a black poodle skirt with a white poodle on
it. The poodle had a pink ribbon around its neck that matched the one she was
wearing around her neck. There were black-and-white saddle shoes, and Bobby Sox.
The bullet bra made two large cones on her chest, but it was uncomfortable.
Because of the research done for this time period, she was wearing a girdle,
garter belt, and black stockings. She thought all the garments were some kind
of torture device.
Mary looked around, and no one was dressed
anything like her. The girls just had one-piece dresses that went down way
below the knee, and went up almost to the neck because good girls didn't show
any cleavage. The research team chose the outfit from old TV shows and movies. Unfortunately,
that was Hollywood's idea of what people wore.
One of the girls asked, "I've never
seen you before where are you from?"
"I just moved here. I'm from
France."
"That explains it," she replied and
then the girls giggled.
The song changed to Earth Angel, and
everyone started slow dancing. One of the adult chaperones started going around
and making sure the kids were not dancing too close or moving hands that were
down a little too far on the girls because proper dancing required the hand to
be placed in the middle of the back the two bodies should not be touching.
Amy guided David over toward Mary. She was the
school busybody, and all gossip was filtered through her.
"Have you ever seen her?" she asked
David.
"No," but she is totally stacked he
thought.
"She looks like that actress;
doesn't she look like Grace Kelly?"
"Yeah, a little," he replied. She's
built like Elizabeth Taylor; what a fantastic rack the kind you wanted to bury
your face in and lick the cleavage.
When the song ended, Amy took
David's hand and went right over and sat down next to Mary.
"Hi I'm Amy and this is my boyfriend
David."
"I'm Mary."
It took only a couple of minutes to satisfy
Amy with the planned background that she had just moved to live with her aunt
while her parents were on a diplomatic mission in Tanzania. She was born in
France and lived in many countries. That was supposed to explain her accent
that was a mixture of Australian and Russian. She was told not to mention
Russia since it was the height of the cold war and people in America were
building bomb shelters expecting a nuclear attack at any moment. She came to
this year because the men were supposed to be extremely horny, and more
importantly virile and potent, which explained the current baby boom.
