Elise rubbed her hands over her face, the afternoon sun warming her skin and producing a sheen of sweat after her brisk walk through the park. She sat on the bench and turned up the stainless-steel water bottle, gulping the cool refreshing liquid. After she replenished the fluid in her body, she focused more on her surroundings. People waltzed by unaware of the lonely girl on the bench. She chuckled at thinking of herself as a girl. Sighing heavily, she rose from the bench and strolled across the busy street to walk home. Her flat was only three blocks from the business area and the park. Since she didn't own a car, she walked everywhere or took public transportation. As she walked past the storefronts with the huge plate-glass windows, she glanced at her reflection and smiled. She wasn't ugly, in fact she was pretty.  Her short blond hair hung halfway to her shoulders. Most days she allowed the natural waves to be her style, but today she straightened it. 



A poster hanging on a bulletin board outside of the corner grocery caught her eye. As she stepped closer, she had her phone pulled out and ready to enter the info. The poster sparked her interest as she read it.

A big smile stretched across her face as she downloaded the app. It was time to put the lonely girl to rest and find a decent date. She shoved her phone in her bag and walked on towards home, happy to have a chance at meeting new people.



After Elise ate a light dinner and cleaned the kitchen, she made herself comfortable and settled on the recliner in front of the TV. She giggled at her furniture, a simple sofa in basic brown leather and a recliner, because she enjoyed relaxing. Her friends teased her about not having matching chairs as she brought the old recliner from her parents' home when they purchased new furniture. The old worn chair comfortably seated her father for years and she felt she had a piece of her childhood home with her.
