'Jeremy, you're getting married?' Jessica failed to hide her surprise. 'But you never mentioned it to me...not even once!' she continued, accusingly.

'That's because Jeremy and I decided to keep it a secret for a while. We wanted to privately enjoy our engagement before telling everyone the good news. Jessica, you look so upset now. I thought you would be happy for us, considering that we are all firm friends?' Isabel replied to Jessica, her blonde, willowy frame standing closely beside the sheepish looking and just as blonde gentleman who was her fiancé. She looked directly at Jessica with a sweet, innocent smile.

'I am not upset..... Sorry, the news just took me by surprise that's all, but I am very happy for you both, congratulations. It is indeed wonderful news.' It took all of Jessica's mental energy to hide her hurt and disappointment and hold back from slapping the smug and satisfied expression off Isabel's face. But Jessica knew that everyone was eagerly observing her reaction: Isabel, Jeremy, and all their shared acquaintances that were present to hear their important announcement.
