Chapter 1

 

What a total bitch my older sister Tammy could be! I could not help thinking in my mind as I heard her voice. She was speaking angrily to her boyfriend Zac, all while I remained in my bedroom pretending not to hear her harsh words of criticism which I took as a direct and personal attack against me.

 

'She's got to go!' Tammy repeated again.

'Come on Tammy you don't mean that, she's your sister after all.'

'Oh yes I do, I don't care that we are genetically linked...she's driving me crazy. She never pulls her weight around the apartment and she is always so disrespectful, never listening to anything I tell her to do. I wish now that I had never promised my parents that I would look after her until she finds her feet and gets a job. What the hell was I thinking? She could be living with us for ages...'

'Come on Tammy, it makes sense that your parents should ask us to keep an eye on her, Rachael does not know Boston well, not like we do after living here for two years. And it's the first time in her whole twenty-one years that your sister has left home to fend for herself, can you not just cut her some slack? She is still settling into a life that will be different to what she has known it must be daunting for her.
