The story focuses on a star with worldwide fame and recognition who has an ego almost as large as her fame. Her upbringing has prejudiced her to look down on those with less wealth or social standing. By either of those measures, she had few equals in the world.

A plane crash causes her to become stranded in a remote section of Montana, trapped in a house with a middle class man who is not impressed with her wealth or fame. The enforced close companionship and her reluctant but honest liking for her savior, war with her prejudices and her distorted view of life. The emotional strain that causes finally erupts in an explosion of fear and panic, causing her to again endanger her life in a panic-driven attempt to get away from the man she now thinks of as a pervert.
