You can’t help but root for her a little as she gets her rocks off with the danger while already knowing this is going nowhere good. (“Glad you’ve discovered your kink! Did it have to involve paying for gambling debts with sex though?”) It turns out that the Syndicate is not really the nicest bunch in the world, and they have a pet that needs some stress relief.
Not to repeat myself, but it bears repeating how efficiently the author gives each woman personality and makes you care about what she feels. The sort of wild, crazy thoughts you have in a wild, crazy situation and word play that is funny but not overly clever. And the sex itself is never rushed, long enough to take in the scene and the feelings, but not drawn out either.
