Book 1 of this excellent spin-off series. Intricately, astutely
constructed racially-and-ethnically diverse characters and
status-reversal-inversion plotlines. Cleverly devised and
imaginatively fetishized to maximize ironic, tragic-comic,
sadomasochistic cruelty with the prose articulated in words and tone
to fit the content. Very arousing as well. Highly recommended. 5

| | STORY DESCRIPTION Return to Mainland 2 is the second book in the popular Return To Mainland series, an offshoot of the Penal Colony 9 and State Orphanage 17 stories by Velvetglove (PC9) and Charles Ryder (SO17).
Book 2 follows the new adventures of the characters from the original story, and introduces some new ones. The theme of the story, the return from a notorious Penal Colony of an assortment of the former privileged elite to be reintegrated into normal society, remains the same.
Despite their excitement and relief at being released from Penal Colony 9, life back on Mainland isn't quite as the elite remembered it. They are now rated as decidedly second-class citizens, and treated as such. They are 'skivvies', slaves in effect ruled over by the sort of people they used to look down.
Mainland has changed for the worst as far as the wealthy is concerned. However, no matter what indignities they are subjected to, no matter how harsh their punishments from their new masters and mistresses. Anything is better than being returned to Penal Colony 9...isn't it?
