For, despite the official government reports, the story will feature once-privileged ladies, gentlemen and unfortunate couples suffering all kinds of retribution and re-education, disgrace and punishment.
The action starts in 2025, three years after the coup. In Book One we meet a range of characters, including Jim, Sarah and Juliette Armstrong, arrested in the middle of the night, and Josh and Linda Montagu, who are already serving their sentences. But towering over everybody else, literally as well as metaphorically, is the Warden himself, Colonel Bull Sykes, 6' 6" tall and weighing 270 lbs.
