STORY DESCRIPTION

This is the story of how Jade gains her freedom and then learns that life as a freewoman can sometimes be harder than being a slave.

Her long time adversary Miclaeides harbours a secret that she is determined to uncover and find her Mother and sister, spirited away by the evil, wealthy merchant years before.

Jade endures the severity of farm slavery, the army and even the hell of the slave galleys in her eternal quest to find her lost family. She suffers torture and public flogging, but continues her search. But Miclaeides does not want a slave girl interfering in his affairs and very nearly succeeds in losing Jade for good amidst the anonymous faces of the countless and voiceless galley slaves.

However, Jade is not to be outdone and in a final, cataclysmic face-off, she and Miclaeides must meet again and settle for good the old scores that have to be paid for and try to heal the old scars that Jade suffered for her quest.

This is a harsh and brutal tale of slave-girl floggings and torture, slavery and humiliation, all told with the backdrop of a timeless, brutal land, where at best, the women are second-class citizens and are often subjected to the harshest servitude.
