Laura Hammond's second book, Handcuffs and Roses is a wondeful blend
of the psychic, the police story and the BDSM erotic story. Lisa is a
cop who gets viions of the present that help the department solve
crimes. She's also been a submissive ever since a vision from an old
case projected her into the body of a submissive involved with the
case. The story starts with a child kidnapping and a new partner for
Lisa. It soon happens that the two partners share a love for BDSM, on
the opposite sides of the ropes, as it were. The police drama and the
sexual story are nicely blended. Nothing suffers and the reader wins
with an excellent story.
Hammond also indulges in a little bit of fun with the reader. The
case that sparks Lisa's attraction to BDSM is in fact, her first book,
and we get to see Peter and Dana briefly at the end of this one.
Nicely done.

I've also possessed an deep interest in the Paranornal. Thus many of my writing endeavours tend to touch upon this theme as a sub-genre. I started out writing romantic/paranormal fiction, and in one of my romantic novels which was published by Renaissance e-books, I ventured into the erotica arena. The typical vanilla romantic love scenes felt mind-numbingly tedious to write at that point.
It was then suggested to me that I should try writing in the erotica genre. Initially I doubted my ability to create a complete erotica novel, but I soldiered on anyway, and Dana's Release and Handcuffs and Roses are the result...still touching on the romantic/paranormal theme, but in a BDSM context. Both books were well received at Renaissance and have sold quite well there. Lisa and McGuinn are paired together as partners in a kidnapping case in Toronto. As they look for a seemingly depraved and demented person, they begin to fall in love, and explore their BDSM persuasions together.
Lisa has dreams and visions, wherein she becomes someone else, first, the kidnapped girl, then the villain who is responsible. All she needs is something that the other person has touched. As the two detectives get closer to the villain, they must learn to balance their work with their growing feelings. The sex is off the charts, and the BDSM is not so graphic that it goes beyond a good love story.
I like Hammond, and her settings, and her word pictures including Handcuffs and Roses. She is a relatively new author to me, and I haven’t been able to find out anything about her. There is no bio in the books, and I was unable to find a bio on Amazon either. Why wouldn’t you put your bio in the book, and have a website? Please let fans know who you are. I love your books and want to look for more, but you aren’t making it easy to find you.
