SYNOPSIS
It's 2025 and Britain is preparing for a general election following ten years of government by the same party. Recession is rife and the Euro has crashed.
A coalition of right wing interests forms to take on the ruling party, with the major objective of withdrawing from the European Federation. They win, rename themselves the Phoenix Party and start the secession while reviewing other controversial aspects of British law by using referendums.
Alex Tucker is a commercial manager within a defence conglomerate who is finding it difficult to find new business. With a wife and four children, he is becoming fearful of redundancy. He regularly prepares contractual tenders with Helen Jones, the personal assistant of his boss, and sufficient rapport has developed between them to anticipate an affair.
However, Helen becomes involved with Russ Sherman, a newly elected member of the government and prejudices her position as a member of Alex's team. Eighteen-year-old Marian King, an inexperienced virgin, takes her place and falls in love with Alex.
They start an affair and he becomes obsessed, causing him to weave a web of deceit around his job and family.
After negotiating a contract with the MoD, Alex is promoted to Commercial Director.
Despite regular sex with her new boss, Marian forms a lesbian relationship with Helen that first shocks and then excites Alex.
In the meantime Britain gains the support of America and certain other previous commonwealth countries for the withdrawal from Europe, gives formal notice of the secession and reintroduces the pound as Britain's currency.
French and German opposition to the British intent is eventually overcome by some deft political manoeuvring and the mission is accomplished without the use of force.
Referendums are held to review devolution, appointment of a president, tightening state benefits, replacing prisons with penal colonies, resurrecting National Service, reintroduction of the death penalty, setting up of legal brothels and reducing the age of consent.
Some proposals affect Alex's offspring and cause emotional debates within the family. Robin, the eldest, is unemployed and his father secures him a position to avoid his son suffering from the new benefit controls. Rosemary, a first year university student wishes to achieve work within a brothel to gain experience towards her becoming a sex therapist. Ruth and Rebecca, thirteen-year-old twins, watch the debate regarding the age of consent and wind up their parents with provocative observations.
Later Alex finds himself torn between his wife and his young lover. Marian wants a permanent relationship and babies while he only intended a casual relationship.
Unforeseen circumstances provide an excuse for Alex to terminate the affair when the government cancels a contract and the company closes the site, transferring business to Australia.
Alex and his family emigrate to start a new beginning...
...and Britain, like the phoenix, eventually rises from the ashes to face a new prosperity.

The Euro had crashed against other currencies. Devaluation had helped in the short
term but now inflation was running at twenty percent and rising. Factories and shops were
closing, with their workers joining the long list of unemployed.
Alex looked hard at his companion and thought how beautiful she was while roused by the
political debate. Her fair complexion was flushed and her eyes fairly sparkled with
excitement. The slim body was tense as she gently smacked the table with a tiny hand to
underline the point she was making.
The youthful, tight little body would be the first he had explored outside of his
marriage and every part of his being was on heat with the prospect.
Her hand slipped under his balls while her lips moved slowly along the shank until
reaching the bulbous head. She kissed the tip and took it into her mouth. A little massage
with the tongue caused the climax as he writhed in ecstasy...
“Like it or not, that issue is settled,” he barked. “The Peoples’ Party is in and any
debate as to whether that will be good for the country can only be speculation at this
time.
She was a petite youngster with long white hair, blue eyes and the look of a frightened
rabbit.
“First of all I convinced her she was beautiful and capable of holding the prime spot in
male sexual fantasies. Would you believe she had no idea that men might actually be
lusting for her body while taking part in an apparently innocuous business meeting?”
“No way was I going to do that. By that time she had me as randy as hell,” Helen
exclaimed while looking at him uneasily to watch his reaction. “I took her home and made
love to her myself.”
“Downing Street has confirmed that the government plans to switch the country’s currency
from the Euro to the Pound in three months time. The same date will formally mark
Britain’s independence from her continental neighbours.
He was on his feet ready to make the necessary excuses to leave as she came through the
door stark naked.
Little more than five feet in height, she stood with her head erect and her blue eyes
staring at him. The white hair now hanging to her waist framed the small oval face, pert
nose and full lips. Her narrow shoulders were held back, causing the perfectly formed,
small breasts to jut from her chest and display the raised nipples. The belly was flat
and her thighs were relatively long and slim for someone of such short stature.
“It’s time to fuck me,” she panted, laying on her back and opening her legs.
“Why continue the lie?” Marian asked while sitting naked and cross-legged on the bed
waiting for him to conclude the explanation and get on with what he’d come for. “Do you
really have to explain what you’re up to every time you have a night out?”
