SYNOPSIS

Romance in 1941 was not easy for anyone, and yet the passions of maturing teenagers were as powerful and vibrant as at any time, before or since. Rebelling against the conventional morality of the 1940s, Tommy and Mary’s discovery of their passion for each other took them on a journey of exploration of their powerful sensuality.

This is the story of the development of their love and their relationship, leaving little to the imagination, set against the background of the war and the fear not only of the almost nightly bombing of their town but also the likelihood that Tommy will be called up into the Armed Forces. Living for the day, each passionate moment they had together was precious…

EXTRACT

I had been dating Mary for over four months by this time, and I had been good – by which I mean that I had not tried any hanky panky. It was difficult to resist. This girl was very beautiful, her body sensational and the sensations she sent through my own body were indescribable. I was just eighteen years old, as randy as any eighteen year old and feeling so lucky to have a girl like Mary pressing her body up against me nearly every night. Those giddy sensations I felt are almost indescribable, certainly far beyond my descriptive powers. It was getting more than I could stand, but this night I was not such a good boy. My hand started wandering in certain directions, upward at first, but in between those long passionate kisses Mary was quick to control my hand. “No. No we can’t do that,” she said firmly. “Why not?” I asked, my hand moving downwards and around to her bottom. “We don’t have to go too far.” “That’s far enough,” she said, removing my hand from her bottom. “What’s got into you, Tommy? You’re not usually doing things like this.” “We have been going steady for months now,” I answered, resting my hands on her waist. “And for all I know, you might think I don’t really fancy you because I have not tried it on with you.” “I don’t think anything of the sort. I know you want to be with me, and I want to be with you, but I’m not sure about what you’ve just been trying to do.” “Can’t help feeling the way I do about that. There are stirrings in me that are sometimes very hard to control. I just want to get a bit closer to you.” “More than a bit,” she replied. “My leg’s not numb. I can feel things, but that’s natural, isn’t it? That… er, that. You know?” she stammered a bit. “It’s not like that all the time,” I told her. “Only when I’m with you, or think about you sometimes when I’m elsewhere. I reckon you are the most beautiful girl in the world and I’m the luckiest guy with the utmost respect for you, but that still doesn’t stop me wanting all of you.” Mary shut me up by kissing me on the mouth, a long clinging kiss with her arms around me pretty tight. I thought for some moments that she was never going to stop, and then after a while she moved her lips a fraction away from my mouth and whispered, “Don’t stop kissing me.” I did not stop kissing her as she took my hands in hers, moved them around the back of her and placed them on her bottom. “Just there,” she whispered. “Hold me just there.”
