CHAPTER 1
“You’re absolutely NUTS!” Kelly Peabody almost screamed. “There’s no way it would
work AND no way I want any part of it!”
Her two friends, Mimi Yakamura and Rose Tall Pines sat there with grim
determination. Neither of them were particularly thrilled with the scenario they’d just
pitched to Kelly, but they’d run out of options. Everything else they’d tried had failed
and time had just about run out. Desperate times called for more desperate measures. And
their proposal was bordered on the insane.
All three girls were in the same situation, a quandary of their own doing. Each
was a senior at the university and each was three credit hours short of the mandatory
guidelines for graduation. For Rose, that was a degree in Business Administration.
Kelly’s was a B.A. in Computer Science. Mimi was to earn her sheepskin for Oceanography.
The women’s lifelong dreams were in danger of winking out like a shooting star. All
because of the elective course they’d chosen.
Modern Sexuality 101 had seemed like a slam dunk class to take. The girls were
surprised to see that three openings were still available. They giggled as they signed
their names to fill out the roster, quite sure that there was little to learn from this
course that they hadn’t experienced already. This was the first of many brash decisions
that would take their lives on an unsuspected turn.
The instructor, Dr. Penelope Mayberry was a walking contradiction. Thirty seven
years old, she appeared to have the body of a woman 15 years her junior. One couldn’t be
certain however, for she always wore severe business suits with slacks. The girls often
sniggered that she had taken this job only after washing out of librarian school. Her
auburn hair was never seen free from its tightly wound bun. Her face was probably quite
lovely, if it hadn’t been cloaked behind a scowl and a pair of thick framed glasses. And
her demeanor didn’t stop at her appearance. She taught the class with a somber fashion
that better suited the dissection of cadavers in an anatomy class.
By the time the work load had become too much for the trio, it had been too late to
withdraw. They had to plod ahead; trying the best that they could. However, the best
wasn’t nearly good enough. Students started dropping out left and right. Most of them
were under-classmen and could suffer the “Incomplete” on their records. They would simply
make it up next semester. Kelly, Rose and Mimi didn’t have that luxury. By the time the
first marking period arrived, there were only two other students in the class along with
the trio. And the assignments seemed to get harder.
The girl’s had tried everything. Tutors, cram sessions, even pleading their case
directly to Dr. Mayberry. However the good doctor stated that she couldn’t waiver from
her teaching style, the girls would just have to “suck it up”. Well, they’d tried that
and it hadn’t worked. Which brought them to this point.
“Look,” Rose pleaded her case to Kelly one last time. “We don’t have any
alternative. This is the only thing we haven’t tried.”
“But it’s BLACKMAIL!” Kelly countered.
“Not really.” Mimi chimed in. “Who knows, Dr. ’May-be-a-Dyke’ (their pet name for
her) might get off on it. Mimi’s attempt at humor did little to lessen Kelly’s
apprehension. Finally, Rose mentioned the obvious.
“Fine,” she said growing angry. “If you don’t want to help, we’ll go it alone.
YOU can explain to your parents why you’re not going to graduate. Hell, you’re only
twenty two. What’s another year of school? I’m sure your folks will be thrilled at
having to fork over another 26K for an additional semester.
The conflict on Kelly’s face was obvious. Then her shoulders sagged and the other
two ladies knew that they had an accomplice. With the biggest hurdle cleared, they sat
down to hash out their plan. Spring break started in two days, this coming Friday was
their target date. Rose, ever the take charge type, explained how things would go down.
It was agreed that all three girls would tell their parents that they were staying
at the other friends’ house. That way, each parent would assume nothing was wrong when
they didn’t come home for break. Assignments were designated by each girl’s stature.
Mimi, a third generation U.S. citizen by way of Japan, would handle transportation.
The petite, 21 year old oriental, barely broke five feet in height. She kept her
straight, black hair long; the neatly trimmed ends nearly brushed her ass when she walked.
Naturally lithe, she had a proportionately supple body. Her breasts were a 34-A cup, but
on such a small frame, swelled quite nicely. The classic oriental features of her face
were altered somewhat by the absence of an atypical button nose. Mimi’s was slightly
longer and straighter, testament to some post-war hanky-panky by one of the occupying
troops.
Rose was a strikingly beautiful member of the Arapahoe tribe. Her grandparents had
been able to leave the reservation and make a living for themselves. Her parents had met
while both were attending the state college, her father an all-state halfback, her mother
the reining Homecoming Queen. Rose had inherited her mother’s statuesque beauty and her
father’s athleticism. Every male head turned as Rose walked by, but the 22 year old was
too engrossed in her academics to have much of a social life. There were times that she
seemed almost embarrassed of her good looks, especially her 36-C bust resting proudly on
her 5‘9“ body. Apparently, Mimi’s wasn’t the only past with some inter-racial variety.
Rose, would take care of disposing of Dr. Mayberry’s car, since she bore the closest
resemblance to her.
That left Kelly. If her other two friends were knock outs, then Kelly was every
heterosexual male‘s wet dream. She had looks that went beyond the stereotypical
California girl. Her naturally wavy blonde hair reached to below her shoulders. Her
5’4”, hour glass shape seemed to need no maintenance, but she dutifully worked out three
times a week. If there were one thing about her she could change, it would be her 36-D
chest. Her breasts were more than just a physical hindrance. They seemed to project to
every man she met, that she was of the Pam Anderson-Anna Nicole type, competent for only
one thing. Men didn’t want to hear that she had a brain, too. Although four months older
than Rose, she seemed to naturally assume the role of follower. Kelly’s job would be the
lynch pin of the whole operation, as Rose explained her plan.
“All you have to do is subdue Dr. Mayberry and get her into the van.” Rose stated,
as if describing directions to the nearest pizza joint.
“And how am I going to do that?” Kelly asked with exasperation.
“First of all, you’ll need this.” Rose said, pulling a snub nosed revolver from
her waist band.
“You can’t be serious!” Kelly said in shock.
“Relax,” Her friend soothed. “It’s just a starter pistol. Trust me, when Dr.
‘May-be-a-Dyke’ is staring down the business end of this thing, she’ll want to do nothing
but cooperate.”
At the mention of their teacher’s pet name, Kelly giggled a bit and thought that
this might work after all. She started to become a more willing participant in this
scheme. Things really got interesting, when her friend showed her the rest of the
equipment. Kelly stared in fascination as Rose produced a pair of handcuffs and some kind
of ball attached to a leather strap.
“You’ll use these to subdue our prey.” Rose explained.
“Well…” Kelly hesitated. “I know what the handcuffs are for, but what is THAT
thing.” She said, pointing at the bright pink ball.
“In laymen’s terms, it’s called a ball gag.” Mimi chimed in. “I bought it off the
internet when we hatched this idea. It’s supposed to be pretty effective at keeping
someone quiet.”
Kelly looked at the gag, somewhat mesmerized and repulsed at the same time. It’s
glossy finish caught the light in a fashion that almost seemed to make it look edible.
It’s 3” diameter looked too large to fit inside someone’s mouth, but she guessed that her
friend knew what she was doing. Then another disturbing thought came to her.
“Okay,” She said. “Assuming that Dr. Mayberry cooperates and I get her tied up
and gagged. How am I supposed to get her out of the building?”
“Simple.” Mimi handled the question. “The weather forecast is for rain, Friday
night. Once you get teach subdued, you button her up in this trench coat. Then you
hustle her down the back stairs and into the van, while Rose masquerades as the good
doctor and drives out the front. Then you transport her to my parent’s cabin up at Green
Lake, where we take some lurid photographs of dear Penelope that we can use to blackmail
her.”
Kelly thought of the dozens of things that could go wrong with the plan, but kept
them to herself. All three girls were in the same boat, and it was taking on water
rapidly. She did however, have one more question that nagged to be asked.
“Exactly what kind of pictures are you going to be taking?” She asked, almost
afraid of the answer.
“That’s our job.” Rose said confidently to her friend. “While shopping on the
internet, Mimi picked up a few more things that will prove very embarrassing for Penny
Precious.”
“And,” Mimi chimed in. “We’ve gotten ourselves a couple of wigs, so that we can
stage some girl on girl action.” She noted Kelly’s horrified look and rushed to add.
“Not the actual thing, mind you, but it’ll look real enough in the photographs. All you
have to do is get her up to the lake. If you want to participate once we get there, the
more the merrier.”
“So,” Rose concluded. “Once we show teach the goods, she’ll have no choice but to
cooperate and pass us. That or she’ll have to change her appearance and move to another
zip code. If those pictures ever get out, she’d be through teaching in this state.”
Kelly felt cornered. She knew what was being proposed was wrong, but so was not
graduating. Plus, she had little compassion for a teacher who wouldn’t deviate from her
principles. The more she thought of Dr. Mayberry helpless and under her control, the more
receptive she became to the plan. If asked at that moment what she was feeling, Kelly
would surprise herself by saying she felt almost…aroused.
“I’m in!” The blonde blurted out.
Her two friends let out sighs of relief and then the trio went over the finer
points of the proposal.
***
Time seemed to creep slowly for Mimi, Rose and Kelly, then all of a sudden, it was
Friday evening. Rose had talked to Dr. Mayberry earlier that day and found out that the
teacher would be in her office grading papers well into the night.
“Such a workhorse that woman.” Rose had commented. “All work and no play. Well,
let’s see if we can’t remedy that.”
The three women wished each other good luck and took their places. Mimi would wait
at the doctor’s apartment for Rose to arrive in Penelope’s Audi. Kelly and Rose drove the
van to Carpenter Hall, where Dr. Penelope Mayberry had her office. The parking lot was
nearly empty and they were able to find a spot right next to the side exit. Kelly took
several deep breaths to calm her nerves. She was astonished at how calmly Rose seemed to
be taking all this.
The two of them hustled into the building as though not to get drenched by the
showers. The guard hardly paid them any notice, he was too engrossed in the ball game on
TV. He was supposed to have them sign in, but it was double-overtime and he was sure that
the two women must have some good reason for being here, instead of halfway to some exotic
Spring Break location. Both women breathed a sigh of relief that the weather was
cooperating. The rain coats they wore disguised their attractive figures, which might
have caused the guard to study them more closely.
Once outside Dr. Mayberry’s office, Kelly took several more calming breaths, then
extracted the starter pistol from her backpack. Then she slipped on the translucent
Halloween mask and slipped her hair up under her floppy rain hat. Rose gave a wink for
moral support and waited outside for Kelly to pass her the doctor’s car keys. Hand
trembling slightly on the door knob, Kelly willed herself to relax and then entered the
office.
It couldn’t have worked out better. The doctor was on the telephone, her back to
the office door. Kelly paused just inside and listened to the one sided conversation. It
was apparent that Doctor Mayberry was intimidated by her caller.
“Yes, yes…” Penelope was saying on the phone. “I know what I promised, but it’s
more difficult than I thought. No, I’m NOT reneging on our contract, but you’ll have to
give me a little more time.”
Kelly was intrigued. She’d never seen her teacher this flustered before. Someone
must have some serious leverage on her to make her almost grovel like this. Intrigued,
Kelly hovered there, almost forgetting the pistol and listened while the conversation
concluded.
“The twenty fourth?” Dr. Mayberry glanced sideways at her calendar before
continuing. “That’s not very much time. Okay, OKAY! I’ll have something for you by
then. There’s no need to take alternative action. Yes…yes…all right, good-bye.”
Dr. Mayberry hung up the phone and hung her face in her hands. Kelly cleared her
throat and Penelope looked up, startled. There was a moment of incomprehension and then
she spoke.
“What…Who are you? What do you want?” Penny Precious said, her eyes locking on
the pistol.
“Shh! Just be quiet and you won’t get hurt.” Kelly said, remembering to lower her
voice. “For starters, you can hand over your car keys.”
For a few moments, Penelope seemed frozen with astonishment, her eyes never leaving
the gun. Then slowly she fumbled for her pocket book. Kelly was getting antsy as it
seemed to take forever to find the keys. Finally, Penelope grasped them and handed them
over to her intruder. If Kelly hadn’t been so intent on grabbing the keys and passing
them out to Rose in the hallway, she might have noticed the steely glint that had
transformed in Penelope’s eyes. Kelly paused at the door to whisper a quick “Good Luck”
to her co-conspirator before turning back around. When she did, her heart turned to ice.
Gone was the flustered woman who had just hung up the phone. In her place was a
supremely confident looking woman, a woman holding a very large and lethal looking
semi-automatic pointed directly at Kelly’s chest. “What?…” was all Kelly could manage
before her teacher cocked the hammer on the weapon and brought a finger to her lips,
signaling silence. The gun never wavered as Penelope got up and walked to the door,
listening to Rose’s footsteps diminish down the hall. Confident that the two of them were
alone, she spoke for the first time.
“Well now,” She cooed. “What do we have here? It can’t be Mardi Gras, for we’re
not in New Orleans.”
Kelly was so dumbstruck by the sudden turn of events, it never occurred to her to
try and bluff her way out with the starter’s pistol. As it turned out, it wouldn’t have
done any good.
“In the first place, my little bungler,” Penelope hissed. “Anyone can tell by
looking at the chamber, that that toy has no cartridges in it. Mistake number one.”
Kelly seemed unable to do anything but stand there with a flabbergasted look on her
face under the mask. The plan had quickly unraveled and Dr. Mayberry held a royal flush
in her hand. The student didn’t even realize that she was still pointing the faux firearm
at her teacher. Penelope pressed her advantage.
“Now then,” She growled. “How about slip off that mask so I can see who I’m
dealing with.”
Robotically, Kelly complied.
“Well, well. Miss Peabody.” Dr. Mayberry chortled. “I’m shocked, nay outraged by
your behavior. Mistake number two. I can only assume that it was Miss Tall Pines or Miss
Yakamura out in the hallway. I know that you three are thick as thieves. Literally.”
Penelope moved over to sit on her desk before continuing.
“Now then,” She said almost sweetly. “Suppose you explain to me exactly what the
three of you had in mind, hmm? And I warn you, don’t leave out a single detail.”
Kelly couldn’t help herself, she was so frightened. She blurted out the entire
plan in a stream of rapid sentences. She left out not a single detail. The cabin, the
photographs, the toys, even the way they’d covered their absence with their parents. She
tried to explain that she hadn’t wanted to go along with the plot, but that ship had all
ready sailed.
Penelope took it all in for a moment before replying. When she did, she sounded
like the proverbial cat that ate the canary.
“Well, what an utterly devious plan.” She purred. “I wouldn’t have given you
three credits for such shenanigans. It seems a shame to let all that work go to waste.
What say we proceed with the scheme?”
Kelly’s heart skipped a beat. Was Dr. Mayberry really going to go through with
this? It was then that she heard her teacher continue.
“With a couple of alterations to the original idea.” She rasped.
Kelly didn’t like the way that sounded at all.
