Caligula and put her own candidate on the throne.
Fortunately the noble Caligula smells out the treason, and
he calls on a man he knows Rome can trust to do what is
right: Marcus Petronius Gallo. Given the Emperor\'s personal
commission to investigate, Gallo hunts down the conspiracy
to the door of Caia Martia. She believes she has beguiled
and outsmarted him, but Gallo is always one step ahead of
her. Taken by surprise in the middle of the night, Caia
Martia is whisked aboard the fastest ship on the sea and
rushed back to Rome. There she is dragged before the
Emperor, and soon confesses. In the great culmination of the
story, Caligula and Gallo exert all their powers to devise a
punishment severe enough for Caia Martia\'s crimes against
Rome!
