DISAPPEARING ACT

Chapter One

When we locked eyes it was  destiny.  I knew he would be mine and I’d be his. David had noticed me at a large promotion party and he spotted me across the room full of top music executives, artists, and producers. David possessed a certain swag about him, his color isn't an issue and most significant the boy could sing. I didn’t care about who he brought to the party, but I was for sure we're going to  leave together. Although, I had bad written all over me. I never dressed like a smut always classy with pearls. I had just ordered a Martini when David came over to me.

“Hello Miss, I don’t think we’ve met what’s your name?” he said smiling with his bright green eyes. I couldn't take his beautiful green eyes staring at my body. My body felt hot from his eyes roaming my body.

Josera sir, most people call me Joey,” I said. This guy was certainly sexy. I wanted to get to know him.

Josera, fits you to a tee, what’s a fine gal like you doing here with these sharks?” he smiled.

“Well, I’m a close friend of Robert Johnson’s and he invited here,” I said knowing that Robert wouldn't approve of me dating a white guy, let alone a R&B singer.

“You love white guys don’t you. It’s written all over your face miss,” he smirked.

I couldn’t help but smile. “Maybe maybe not,” I shrugged.

“You look like you want me to take you home and do things to you,” he whispered in my ear. I bit my lip. I got up and followed him to the elevator. His hotel room was stacked and I loved everything about it. I wanted to make love to him but then again what would he think of me. How did I get myself in this mess?

“Joey lets shower,” he said getting undressed. I seductively took my dress off and poured myself some Puerto Rican rum. After half a glass I started to feel more loose.

“Miss, you shouldn’t have drunken  that much,” he smiled and kissed me. When his lips met mine I felt something different.  He started drinking trying to catch up with me. We showered and laughed realizing we were both drunk. He laid next to me on the bed. We both began to share personal things about ourselves.

“I don’t usually approach women but you had an aurora around you that attracted me to you,” he said.

“I’ve seen you before and I wanted you. I'm not into famous men but, I wanted to get to know you,” I admitted.

“Would you believe me if I told you that I have NEVER had a one night stand?” he said as he set next to me on the bed.

“No…”

“I never had the urge to have sex with someone I didn’t know. It kind of scares me to entwine souls with a stranger,” he shared. I couldn’t believe that came out his mouth. It left me speechless because I didn't expect that.

“Joey what’s wrong?” he asked. He looked into my eyes deeply.

“Nothing.”

“I couldn’t have sex with you if I wanted to,” he said.

“Why? You have a STD?” I asked as I scooted away.

“No ma’am I have standards. This music industry is full of sin. I’m sorry I’m preaching to you. But I just can’t understand why so many things are acceptable. But you know what?”

“What?”

“Call me crazy but I’m a marry you,” he smiled.

“You’re crazy!” I said inching away from him.

“No, really I’ve never felt an instant connection. It’s like I don’t know what to do. I want to do something but I don’t know what,” he said.\

Alcohol had a funny way of revealing the truth. We laid there til sunrise talking about everything. The next afternoon when I woke up he was on the phone. My head hurt a little and I was still naked. Surprisingly we didn’t have sex. It's something different about him.  Something about my little singer had me going.

“Good morning angel,” he said kissing my forehead.

“Oh my god what time is it?” I screeched.

“Two love,” he said folding my clothes. All my things were neatly stacked on the chair.

“Wow, I need to be going,” I said getting up.

“Don’t rush… I want to spend the day with you,” he said locking eyes with me. I wasn’t prepare to hear that. I also didn’t want to tell him Robert Johnson was my ex. Robbie and I still used each other to network. I knew a lot of producers and he had connections to all the momentous events.

“Sure,” I replied.

“What’s got your mind turning over there little lady,” he said sitting on the bed. David looked so sexy wearing nothing but his boxers.

“Nothing just thinking,” I said.

“So.. I think I’ve seen you before.”

“Probably I've been to various events helping Robbie,” I said.

“Robert Johnson? Does he know you’re here?”

“No…”

“Should he?”

“Nah,” I said wanting to change the subject. I couldn’t let him know that I still care about him. My relationship with Robbie is over. I didn't want to be with him anymore. I'm ready to move on with my life.

“So, you’re his assistant?” He said studying my facial expression. Managing Robbie sometimes interferes with my personal life.

“Something like that..”

“Anyways, I really enjoyed our conversation last night. So you live in New York and I live in California how convenient?” he laughed.

“Yeah, how ironic,” I sighed. I just realized I was naked and hurried up and got dressed.

“I was wondering how long you were going to stay naked,” he laughed.

“So you're celibate?” I asked.

“Something like that,” he shot my words back at me.

“What you mean?”

“My future girlfriend that I will eventually marry I want to wait until our wedding night. It can be hard sometimes like when I have girls throwing themselves at me. Which isn't classy at all,” he said. David, was the first white guy I’ve ever talked to. I didn't think Robbie would like the idea of me dating him.

“I can understand,” I said. I ended up staying the whole weekend in his hotel with him.
