Satyr Day

By Alana Church

Description:

Owen didn't set out to be a hero. When he rescued the woman in the grocery store parking lot, he was just trying to help. But as a result, he found himself gifted with a strange copper bracelet. Now women around him are acting strangely. Over the span of one glorious summer day, Owen's life is turned upside down. Will he accept his destiny as the messenger of a divine being? What will be his fate, and that of the women in his life, on this wonderful “Satyr Day?”

“So what about you, papi?” she said. She put an arm around his shoulders and snuggled close. “Any new women in your life?”

“Ha,” he said. “I asked Anaya out again tonight. And she turned me down again.”

“I like Anaya,” Isabel said. “She is very pretty.” She turned towards him, full breast pressing into his arm. “Not as pretty as you are, though, mi vida.” She kissed his cheek softly, pressing close.

Suddenly Owen was very aware of her warm body next to his. His shaft stirred and lengthened, growing down the length of his thigh. Their eyes met, hers shining brightly with desire.

She wants you. The thought came to his mind unbidden. If he gave her the smallest hint, Isabel would be more than willing to take him to bed.

Instead he rolled off the trunk, eyes wide. “Isabel, I think you've had a little too much to drink. How about we go inside? I've got to be at work at ten o'clock.

“Oh, by the way,” he added. “One of the drivers got fired tonight, and I'm taking a day shift tomorrow, so I can be here when Samara visits for supper tomorrow night.”

Isabel sat up, cheeks flaming in embarrassment. What had she been thinking? Somehow, it had seemed so right, to snuggle close to Owen, so handsome, so strong. Hands shaking, she clambered to her feet, ignoring the urgent ache in her belly, the warm glow in her breasts.

Sandy took him by the hand. “Come on.”

“What?”

She led him around to the rear of the house. The tiny back yard was mostly occupied by an inflated bouncy house, but it was empty. All the children were inside, scarfing down pizza and sipping on juice boxes.

“If I had the choice, I’d drag you into my bedroom,” she said, her tired face transformed by a wicked smile he remembered from the old days. “But I’m not crazy enough to try that with a house full of kids and parents. Instead we’ll do it the old-fashioned way. Remember that school assembly, when we snuck down underneath the bleachers in the gym and made out? I wanted to give you oral, but you were scared we’d get caught?”

He nodded, caught up in memory. As Sandy spoke, the years seemed to disappear, and she looked like she had when they were teenagers, still untouched by the disappointments of life.

“Over here,” she whispered, taking him by the arm and pulling him behind the bouncy house.  Once there, she wrapped him in a tight embrace, her hands reaching up to stroke his shoulders, then down towards his rear.

“Kiss me, Owen,” she said softly. “It’s been too long. Tommy is a wonderful little boy, but my bed has been empty for over a year. I need more. I need a man. And if we can’t go and make love in the house, at least I can take some comfort here.”

She tilted her face up, and he bent his head and kissed her softly. Her body moved close to his, sweet and pliant, just as he remembered. His shaft hardened, pressing into her vulnerable belly.

She pulled away and smiled into his eyes. “Well, that didn’t take much, did it? Now,” she continued, licking her lips hungrily. “Let’s see what I can do for you.”

Phoebe sighed. “Owen, sometimes humans really are most remarkably dense.

“Did you really think you could accept the gifts you have been given, go on with your life, and not have to give something in return? For everything there is a price.”

“And what price will I have to pay?” Owen asked tensely.

“Why, belief, dear child. Faith. Eventually, possibly, priesthood. Fortunately,” she said, the smile in her voice clear, “the laws of your nation are amazingly lax. You can set yourself up as a priest of Bacchus and the only thing that will happen is that people will look at you a bit strangely.

“Some of the women you...serve...will be drawn to you. And your new faith. Anaya. Isabel. Samara. Or Wendy, for example. There's a lusty piece of ass. I wish I had known her when I was male. She would be a perfect choice to help lead your new temple. She could draw in converts by the dozen. Male and female both.”

Owen's temper, already frayed, abruptly snapped. “This is ridiculous!” he shouted. “I am not a priest. I am not going to start a church worshiping some long-gone Greek god. I am not going to have a herd of horny women around me who worship Bacchus and bring in converts.”

Phoebe's voice grew cold. “You don't want it, boy? Fine. Take off the bracelet. Throw it away. Throw it all away. Go back to your tedious, soul-sucking job. Beg for hours as a delivery boy, scrape for tips. Live one step up from poverty, if you can.

“Get your precious diploma. Find a job. Marry a woman with goals as small and petty as your own. Accept mediocrity. Deny the possibility of beauty and power and passion.

“And for the rest of your life, you'll always wonder.

“What if.”
